Prairie Smoke

'Prairie Smoke,' long-plumed avens, Geum triflorum, is so beautiful in the meadows along Big Blue in the alpine country above our once owned cabin at Arrowhead. Fly-fishing day trips were great fun and what a surprise to see these beauties after their peak change to seed pods that look like pink smoke hugging the ground in the low moisty areas.
