I, like many of my fellow artists, are preparing for winter, and shows for the coming year and cleaning out closets, and garages. And here on the ranch, preparing the cattle for the coming weather, is a priority.
Looking back, 2017 has been a good year, but also a year of unexpected illness and trials. We have had a good year on the ranch with 100% survival of calves born and that is always good. Cattle prices have fallen though and and that is not good. I guess the prices can't stay high forever. We have been blessed to live in a country where we can live the lifestyle of our choosing and practice our religion. That is the biggest blessing of all!
I have also been truly blessed, as an artist, to be accepted into many shows across the country and my work is still desired by many people, of whom I am thankful.
Bruce Carter of Tallgrass Art Gallery, in Pawhuska and Shannon Hanna and her staff, Teresa Garcia, of RSHanna Gallery in Fredericksburg, continue to work hard to present my work to the public and for them I am truly grateful. Sales have been good.
The highlights of this year have been, the installation of the Set-T'ainte' (Satanta) bust in the Fort Sill National Historic Landmark Museum, in Lawton, Oklahoma, creating the Wah-Zah-Zhe Ballerina for the Osage Ballet School-ArtMaker, in Pawhuska, participating in the First Redfern PleinAir event in Tahlequah, where I got a First and Second Place for my pastels (one sold) and Volunteering to serve as WAOW Co-Show Chair with Julie Hayes for the first time ever that the 48 year old organization, WAOW Women Artists of the West, Show will be held in September 2018 in Bartlesville, Best of Show at OSS Show in Pawhuska. Last but not least, attaining Master-Signature Status in WAOW.
Other shows that I participated in were in Las Cruces, NM, Kerrville, Texas, Fredericksburg Texas, and Tucson, Arizona.
I am ramping up for the new year with great anticipation for 2018. Special events for 2018 that are already scheduled, can be seen on my Shows for 2018 page.
I am looking forward to the One Woman Show in Kerrvile, Tx, the WAOW Show in Bartlesville, the AWA Show in the iconic Rockwell Museum in Corning, NY, the Three-woman Show in Newton, Kansas, and the APA Signature Show in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.
Merry Christmas to all and a Blessed 2018! I hope to see you at the shows.
